If you decide to do a doctorate, you should definitely have the motivation and stamina for time-consuming academic work in addition to a fascination for your research topic. Before you start a doctorate, you should consider whether a doctorate
- is helpful or even necessary for your intended career path
- fits into your life plan, also with regard to the time you have to invest
- how can this career phase be financed?
Application & Admission
To join DIGIT as a doctoral candidate, you need a university degree (Master's, Diplom or equivalent state examination) in a relevant or related field of computer science, computer science, etc., which you have completed with above-average results.
Application steps:
- Identify a suitable research topic and contact a potential supervisor.
- A list of supervisors and their corresponding affiliations can be found here.
- Put together a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC)
- The doctoral projects in our doctoral program are supervised by a group of 2-3 professors. In addition to your main supervisor, you should - in consultation with your supervisor - put together a TAC team for your dissertation project.

- After you have been accepted as a doctoral candidate at Clausthal University of Technology, apply for admission to our doctoral program by filling out the application form ("Documents & Forms") and sending it to coordinators-digit-doctoral-college@tu-clausthal.de.
